In a world where conversations around wellness are evolving rapidly, one Indian deep science startup is digging deeper—quite literally—into the root of our health. Gut health, long underrated and misunderstood, is now taking center stage, and Iom Bioworks is leading the charge with its mission to personalize healthcare using microbiome science.

The Bengaluru-based startup has just raised ₹4 crore in a seed funding round led by Gurugram-based angel investment powerhouse, Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). And this isn’t just another healthtech story—this is a science-first, precision-driven startup that’s blending AI, biology, and personalization in ways India’s startup ecosystem has rarely seen.

The Science of the Self – Right from the Gut

Founded in 2022 by Bipin Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Samik Ghosh, and Dr. Hiroaki Kitano, Iom Bioworks is built around one simple belief—better gut, better life. The startup is pioneering a personalized approach to health by decoding the unique bacterial composition of each person’s gut microbiome and then offering precise, tailor-made solutions to improve overall health and well-being.

But this isn’t guesswork. Backed by patented AI-powered technology, Iom Bioworks uses large-scale knowledge graphs and advanced modelling techniques to offer highly personalized insights to its users. From digestion and immunity to mood and metabolism—the startup taps into the profound ways gut health impacts almost every aspect of human life.

“Lifestyle diseases are on the rise due to poor diet, stress, and lack of sleep. Many of these are directly linked to poor gut health. Understanding the microbiome can not only prevent disease but improve life quality,” said Vinay Bansal, Founder of IPV.

    Traction, Tech & Trust

While many deep-tech startups take years to gain real market traction, Iom Bioworks has already made a mark. In just its first year, the company has onboarded more than 500 customers, filed four patents (two already granted), and published scientific research in reputed journals.

They’ve also built a pan-India logistics network and established a robust digital platform that enables remote access to personalized microbiome services—something that’s particularly valuable in a post-COVID world where preventive and home-based health solutions are gaining ground.

This early success underscores both the scientific credibility and the consumer demand for precision gut health solutions in India.

The Funding Path: What ₹4 Crore Will Unlock

The fresh ₹4 crore seed funding will help Iom Bioworks accelerate on multiple fronts. The capital will be used to:

    • Strengthen core infrastructure

    • Scale both scientific and commercial teams

    • Expand marketing initiatives

    • Secure intellectual property rights globally

This marks a crucial step in Iom’s journey from a science lab to potentially becoming a household name in personalized healthcare.

“We envision a world where health and happiness come from nurturing the microbiome. With IPV’s backing, we are better equipped to energize lives through food, lifestyle, and science,” said Bipin Pradeep Kumar, Co-founder, Iom Bioworks.

The Bigger Picture: Why Gut Health is the New Goldmine

Globally, the gut microbiome market is projected to grow rapidly, with startups exploring its impact on conditions ranging from diabetes and obesity to depression and autoimmune diseases. In India, awareness is just beginning to spread—making Iom Bioworks a first-mover in this untapped space.

Backed by a multidisciplinary team of scientists and entrepreneurs, the startup isn’t just selling products—it’s creating a paradigm shift in how Indians think about health.

As consumer interest in preventive health, AI-driven diagnostics, and personalization continues to surge, Iom Bioworks finds itself at the intersection of all three.

With its fresh funding and deep scientific roots, Iom Bioworks is not just a biotech startup—it’s a movement in the making. By tapping into the universe inside each of us—our gut—it’s hoping to change the way we eat, think, and live.

For a startup ecosystem that often celebrates scale, speed, and superficial trends, Iom offers a refreshing twist: slow science, deep insight, and real impact.
