Sunjay Kapur, prominent Indian businessman and chairman of Sona Comstar Ltd., has passed away at the age of 53 following a heart attack while playing polo in the UK. He was the ex-husband of actress Karisma Kapoor and was currently married to Priya Sachdev.

A leading voice in India’s automotive sector, Kapur headed Sona Comstar, a global auto components company based in Gurugram, and served as President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). He also co-chaired the Manufacturing Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and sat on the board of The Doon School in Dehradun, where he studied.

He completed his BBA at the University of Buckingham and later attended Harvard Business School’s Owner-President Management Program.

Sunjay’s personal life often drew public attention. He was first married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani, followed by actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple divorced in 2016 after a long legal battle. They had two children: daughter Samaira (born 11 March 2005) and son Kiaan (born 12 March 2011), both of whom live with Karisma.

Sunjay later found love with Priya Sachdev, whom he met in New York. Their bond grew stronger during their respective divorces. After five years of dating, the couple married in a quiet ceremony in Delhi, opting for a traditional court wedding attended by close family and friends.

An avid polo player and passionate industrialist, Sunjay Kapur is remembered for his contributions to business and sport. He is survived by his wife Priya, his children, and extended family.
